A newly released whitepaper, co-authored by Evolution Mining, details a comparative study undertaken at their Cracow gold mine in which stopes drilled using Minnovare’s new ‘Production Optimiser’ technology, recorded 62% less average dilution than stopes drilled using the existing technology/process (11.7% overall dilution, compared to 29.8% respectively).
The whitepaper contains detailed survey and stope performance data taken during the first six months following the Production Optimiser’s implementation at Cracow. The authors go on to discuss the significant positive implications for future mine planning, resourcing and profitability.
The Authors stipulate that if an equivalent reduction in dilution were applied to Cracow’s full year FY17 production data, all things remaining equal, an additional $8.2M AUD of ore would be recovered, with a $4.5M AUD reduction in costs associated with dilution (haulage and processing).
Minnovare credits Evolution Mining as a key development and implementation partner of the new technology, which amongst other advances, significantly improves blast-hole drilling accuracy – thereby reducing hole deviation, a significant contributing factor to dilution.
The new technology can be implemented on sites running any rig make/model and works independently of the rig’s on-board systems. The Production Optimiser’s software interface, Minnovare CORETM, syncs directly with mine-planning software and features digital drill plans and plods – helping ensure that “what is drilled is what was designed" by facilitating greater data capture and visualisation between rig operators and engineering/technical crews.
